They are comfy, but I was worried that these slightly thicker and denser pads would change the characteristic sound of my 1986 MDR-V6 cans. The fact is, they do, a little. The treble is a bit less pronounced, the mid's are warmer (but not muddy) and the bass is somehow clearer. But what's best is the soundstage... it's noticeably wider and more immersive. The MDR series was always meant to be a slightly less-cold but overall neutral studio monitor. These pads don't deviate too far from that mission, they just make these fabled cans better for every day, hours-long listening. IMHO, of course.
